Shine bright like a diamond…..hello again guys! Welcome back to ZarZou blog. I hope everyone who is reading this entry is in a good state of health and please please take care of your physical, mental and emotional health during this MCO 2.0 session. Okay now, back to our topic! Does this MCO make your skin turn to dullness all of sudden and you are still clueless what have you done wrong to get such skin?

So, in this entry, I am going to give some tips for you to glow like never before! You might have done some of these tips but read until the end because you might SKIP one. Remember, there is NO SINGLE MAGIC bullet to achieve a glowing skin.

So, what is glowing skin?

Glowing skin can be defined as a skin that looks brighter and healthy even with your bare face. Yes, everyone dreams of having this skin but it is not as easy as said than done. A brighter complexion should be when your skin tone is more evened out, your acne scars fades slowly and your dull skin will no more scare your day.

Is there any difference between brightening, lightening and whitening?

The three terms might sound the same and yes, it is actually the same.

Some people may interpret the terms like this

  • Brightening – The effect after achieving healthy skin
  • Lightening – Act of fading acne scars using lightening ingredients. Examples include arbutin, Vitamin C,  NiacinamideMulberry extract, Licorice extract
  • Whitening – Peel your skin with harmful ingredients like hydroquinone, tritenoin and mercury

Truth to be told, these three are actually the same even though some marketing trick say that they DIFFER from each other but it is important for you to look at the ingredients list before purchasing and be a wise skincare buyer please…

Does Dull Skin Got You Down?

Having dull skin can get you down at certain times and it is important for you to know the main causes of dull skin to help improve your complexion.

Some causes of dull skin include:

  1. Under exfoliate – Dead skin cells will ‘hide’ the new healthy skin cells beneatg
  2. Lack of hydration  – Dehydrated skin will  make your skin look flaky and tired
  3. Do not moisturize – Lack of moisturization causes your skin to appear rough, dull and tired
  4. Unhealthy lifestyle – Lack of sleep, exercise and unhealthy diet can make your skin looking dull too
  5. Pollution – Dust and smoke can sit on your skin surface, causing your skin appears ‘dirty’
  6. Too much matte finishing makeup – Most of use love matte finishing but too much matte will make your skin look dull and less glow

How to Glow like Never Before?

Treating dull skin doesn’t take one night. It requires a lot of patience, perseverance and consistency because there is NO ONE SINGLE solution for dull skin treatment.

So, let’s reveal the tips now! First, from physical and mental health perspective, of course, your lifestyle plays essential roles. Take a look at these tips:

  1. Sleep at least 8 hours a day
  2. Control your stress
  3. Talk to someone if needed
  4. Limit mobile phone usage
  5. Get yourself a treadmill at home. Staying at home cannot prevent you from exercising. Share money with your family members and buy treadmill for use at home.
  6. Less sugary food in diet. Some sugary food can trigger acne to come out which may cause acne scars to come afterward. Eat more vegetables and fruits for brighter and healthy skin.

From skin health perspective, there will be FOUR main points that can help – EXFOLIATE, HYDRATE, ANTIOXIDANT and SUNSCREEN.
